Romance of the Three Kingdoms

Lu Bu, courtesy name Fengxian, was a renowned warrior during the late Eastern Han dynasty period of Chinese history. He is primarily known for his incredible martial prowess, making him one of the most formidable figures in the classic novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms.

Initially serving as a subordinate of Ding Yuan, Lu Bu was persuaded to betray and assassinate him by the warlord Dong Zhuo, who sought to control the Han court. Dong Zhuo adopted Lu Bu as his son, forming a strong, yet ultimately unstable, alliance.

Driven by ambition and manipulated by Wang Yun, Lu Bu eventually turned on Dong Zhuo, killing him in a plot to restore order. However, his victory was short-lived. He was forced to flee the capital Chang'an after being defeated by Dong Zhuo's loyalists.

For the remainder of his career, Lu Bu wandered throughout China, seeking refuge and alliances with various warlords, including Yuan Shu, Yuan Shao, and Liu Bei. He was known for his volatile temperament and tendency to betray those who offered him shelter.

Ultimately, Lu Bu was captured by Cao Cao after being betrayed by his own subordinates at the Battle of Xiapi. Despite pleas for mercy, Cao Cao, influenced by Liu Bei's counsel, ordered his execution, ending the turbulent life of the powerful, yet ultimately flawed, warrior.
