Biography:
Richard Stephen Sambora, known professionally as Richie Sambora, is an American rock guitarist, singer, songwriter, and producer. He is best known as the lead guitarist and co-songwriter for the rock band Bon Jovi from 1983 to 2013.
Born in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, Sambora displayed musical talent early, learning guitar and influenced by blues, rock, and soul artists. Before joining Bon Jovi, he worked as a session guitarist and played in various local bands.
His songwriting partnership with Jon Bon Jovi was crucial to Bon Jovi's success, co-writing hits like "Livin' on a Prayer," "You Give Love a Bad Name," and "Wanted Dead or Alive." Sambora also provided distinctive backing vocals and harmonies.
Beyond Bon Jovi, Sambora has a solo career, releasing albums like "Stranger in This Town," "Undiscovered Soul," and "Aftermath of the Lowdown." He also collaborated with artists such as Cher and Desmond Child.
Sambora was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with Bon Jovi in 2018. In 2023, Sambora reunited with Bon Jovi for a one-off performance during a MusiCares tribute to Jon Bon Jovi.
