Moaning Myrtle is a fictional ghost from the Harry Potter series, first appearing in *Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets*. She haunts a girls' bathroom on the second floor of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Myrtle Elizabeth Warren was a student at Hogwarts in Ravenclaw house during Tom Riddle's time. She was murdered by the Basilisk released from the Chamber of Secrets, after encountering it through a sink in the bathroom.
As a ghost, Myrtle is known for her mournful wails and generally miserable disposition. She is often found crying in her bathroom stall and has a tendency to flood the bathroom with her tears. Despite her gloomy nature, she occasionally offers assistance to Harry Potter and his friends.
