Zabuza Momochi, often called the "Demon of the Hidden Mist," was a prominent antagonist in the early arcs of the Naruto series. Hailing from Kirigakure, the Village Hidden in the Mist, Zabuza was a member of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist, a group known for wielding powerful, unique blades. His signature weapon was the Kubikiribōchō, a large, cleaver-like sword.

Zabuza was infamous for his ruthless ambition. As a child, he slaughtered all his graduating classmates to prove his strength, earning him the "Demon" title. He later attempted a coup d'état in Kirigakure, but failed and was forced into hiding, becoming a mercenary.

He hired himself out to Gato, a wealthy businessman, and targeted the Land of Waves, where he encountered Team 7. His initial defeat by Kakashi Hatake marked a turning point. Zabuza ultimately displayed a degree of redemption, sacrificing himself to protect Haku, his loyal companion and ward, from Gato's thugs. His death served as an important lesson for Naruto about the value of protecting one's comrades.
