Biography:

Bert is a Muppet character best known for his appearances on the children's television show, Sesame Street.

He first appeared in the show's premiere episode on November 10, 1969. Bert is the orange-skinned roommate of Ernie, and their contrasting personalities are a frequent source of comedic conflict.

Bert is characterized by his serious, somewhat grumpy demeanor, his love of pigeons (especially his pet pigeon, Bernice), and his collection of bottle caps and paperclips. His deadpan delivery and exasperation with Ernie's antics are hallmarks of the character.
