Cookie Monster is a Muppet character on the long-running children's television show, Sesame Street. He is best known for his insatiable appetite, especially for cookies.
Cookie Monster's first appearance was in a 1966 General Foods commercial. While this character design shared similarities with the later Cookie Monster, the Sesame Street version debuted on the show's premiere episode in 1969.
On Sesame Street, Cookie Monster is a furry blue monster with googly eyes and a wide mouth. He often expresses his desire for cookies in a loud, enthusiastic voice. His catchphrase is "Me want cookie!" While cookies are his favorite food, he will eat nearly anything.
