Nezuko Kamado is a central character in the manga series Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. She is the younger sister of the protagonist, Tanjiro Kamado.
Nezuko's life dramatically changes when she is attacked by a demon, Muzan Kibutsuji, resulting in her transformation into a demon herself. However, unlike typical demons, Nezuko retains some of her human consciousness and emotions, especially her love and protectiveness towards her brother.
Her first appearance is in the first chapter of the manga, "Cruelty," where the aftermath of the demon attack on her family is depicted. Throughout the series, Nezuko accompanies Tanjiro on his quest to find a cure for her demonism and to avenge their family. She is a unique demon who does not crave human flesh and is often seen with a bamboo muzzle to prevent her from biting others.
