Biography:
Dáin II Ironfoot was a dwarf of the line of Durin, a renowned warrior, and eventually King Under the Mountain.
He was the son of Náin, and his lineage traced back to Grór, younger brother of Dáin I. Dáin II rose to prominence at a young age, showcasing exceptional courage and skill in battle. Notably, he slew Azog, the Orc chieftain of Moria, in the Battle of Azanulbizar, avenging the death of his father.
As lord of the Iron Hills, Dáin led his dwarves to the aid of Thorin Oakenshield's company at the Battle of Five Armies. Following Thorin's death, Dáin claimed the kingship, becoming Dáin II King Under the Mountain. He ruled wisely and prosperously, restoring the glory of Erebor.
Dáin later defended Erebor in the War of the Ring. He fought alongside King Brand of Dale against the Easterlings. Dáin died valiantly defending the body of King Brand, ensuring the survival of many of his people, but ultimately succumbing to the enemy at the gates of Erebor.
