The Terminator, often referred to as a Cyberdyne Systems Model 101, is a fictional character central to the Terminator franchise. He is portrayed as a cyborg assassin, typically tasked with eliminating key individuals in the past to alter the future.

Designed with a metallic endoskeleton and living tissue covering, the Terminator is incredibly strong, durable, and possesses advanced artificial intelligence. He is programmed for infiltration, combat, and survival. His emotionless demeanor and relentless pursuit of his targets make him a formidable foe.

Initially, the Terminator is depicted as a villain, sent by the Skynet artificial intelligence to kill Sarah Connor and prevent the birth of her son, John Connor, the future leader of the human resistance. Later in the series, some Terminators are reprogrammed and sent to protect John and others from Skynet's threats.

The Terminator has been portrayed by Arnold Schwarzenegger in most of the films, becoming one of his most iconic roles. Other actors have also played Terminator units with varying designs and objectives throughout the franchise.
