Emmitt Smith is widely regarded as one of the greatest running backs in NFL history, most famously associated with the Dallas Cowboys.

Born May 15, 1969, in Pensacola, Florida, Smith had a stellar collegiate career at the University of Florida before being drafted by the Cowboys in the first round of the 1990 NFL Draft.

His professional career with the Cowboys spanned from 1990 to 2002. During this time, he led the NFL in rushing four times and was instrumental in the Cowboys' dynasty of the 1990s. He helped the team win three Super Bowl championships, earning Super Bowl XXVIII MVP honors.

Smith holds the NFL record for career rushing yards with 18,355. He was named NFL MVP in 1993 and was an eight-time Pro Bowl selection. He retired from the NFL in 2005 after a short stint with the Arizona Cardinals and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2010, solidifying his legacy as a Cowboys legend and a football icon.
