The Undead Warrior, also known as Hector Ayala, is a Marvel Comics character who debuted in Dead of Night #11 (1974). He is primarily associated with the Werewolf by Night stories.
Hector Ayala, a social worker, discovered an ancient jade amulet that transformed him into the supernatural Undead Warrior. This transformation granted him superhuman strength, speed, and durability, making him a formidable combatant. However, unlike other shapeshifting heroes, Ayala retained his human intellect and free will while transformed.
Driven by a strong sense of justice, the Undead Warrior dedicated himself to fighting evil, often crossing paths with Werewolf by Night. He acted as both an ally and opponent to Jack Russell depending on circumstances and each character's goals. Hector also encountered other mystical beings and villains.
Tragically, Hector's life ended when he was wrongly accused and convicted of a crime he did not commit, despite the efforts of his friends. He was ultimately killed in prison, bringing an end to the Undead Warrior persona.
