Biography:
Lucifer Morningstar, a prominent character in DC Comics' Vertigo imprint, is based on the biblical Lucifer. He first appeared in *The Sandman* #4 (1989), created by Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth, and Mike Dringenberg.
Originally an angel, Lucifer rebelled against God and was cast out of Heaven, becoming the ruler of Hell. After eons of ruling, he grew weary and abdicated his throne, abandoning Hell and cutting off his wings. This act is a central event in his character arc, signifying his desire for free will and independence from predetermined roles.
Following his departure, Lucifer often appears on Earth, opening a Lux nightclub in Los Angeles.
