Biography:

Samurai is a DC Comics superhero, created by Gerry Conway and Ric Estrada, who first appeared in *Justice League of America* #157 (August 1978). His real name is Toshio Eto, and he's primarily known for his membership in the Global Guardians.

Samurai's powers are based on elemental control; he can manipulate air, fire, water, and earth. These abilities are activated by speaking the corresponding element's name in Japanese.

Although mainly a comic book character, Samurai has also appeared in the DC Animated Universe. He was a member of the Ultimen in the *Justice League Unlimited* cartoon. This version retained his elemental powers but featured a slightly different backstory.
