The Destroyer is not a character, but rather an enchanted suit of armor in the Marvel Universe, frequently associated with Thor. Created by Odin to combat a specific Celestial threat, the armor is composed of an unknown, virtually indestructible metal.

It lacks inherent sentience. Instead, it requires a host soul to animate it. This host is typically a powerful being or possessing strong will, as controlling the Destroyer's immense power demands considerable mental fortitude. Notable hosts include Thor, Loki, and even the Sif.

The Prometheus Armor designation sometimes appended to "Destroyer" is simply a descriptive moniker, not a separate version or upgrade. The Destroyer's power is vast, capable of withstanding and delivering massive blows. It can fire powerful energy blasts and has demonstrated considerable resistance to various forms of attack.

Its primary purpose, despite often being used for antagonistic purposes due to manipulation by others, remains as a last resort weapon against threats that even the gods of Asgard find insurmountable.
