Admiral Motti was an officer in the Imperial Navy during the reign of the Galactic Empire, serving under Grand Moff Tarkin aboard the Death Star. He held a strong belief in the power of the Death Star, confidently asserting its invulnerability and ability to crush the rebellion.

Motti, known for his arrogance and sometimes abrasive personality, often clashed with other officers, particularly those with more spiritual beliefs. His skepticism towards the Force, famously calling it "a sad devotion to that ancient religion," led to a memorable confrontation with Darth Vader, who Force-choked him as a demonstration of the Force's power.

Ultimately, Motti's overconfidence in the Death Star proved to be his downfall. He was present on the battle station when it was destroyed by Luke Skywalker and the Rebel Alliance during the Battle of Yavin, perishing along with the vast majority of the Imperial personnel onboard.
