Phoebe Cuckoo, also known as Irma Cuckoo, is a mutant character in Marvel Comics. She is one of the Stepford Cuckoos, a quintuplet of telepathic sisters created by Emma Frost from the genetic material of her student, Sophie Cuckoo.
Originally part of the Weapon Plus Program, Phoebe and her sisters were initially intended as weapons, trained in telepathy and mental manipulation. They served as students at the Xavier Institute for Higher Learning, often working alongside the New X-Men squad.
Phoebe is distinguished from her sisters by her distinct personality and often conflicting desires. While sharing a powerful collective telepathic link with her sisters, she also struggles with individual autonomy. Her relationship with her sisters is complex, shifting between cooperation and rivalry.
Following various traumatic events and changes in the mutant landscape, Phoebe's allegiance and motivations have often shifted, making her a complex and unpredictable character. She has been both an ally and an adversary to the X-Men.
