Paloma is a fictional character from the French novel and subsequent film, "The Elegance of the Hedgehog" (original title "L'Élégance du Hérisson").

She is a highly intelligent and perceptive twelve-year-old girl living in a wealthy Parisian apartment building. Feeling disillusioned and cynical about the world's superficiality and hypocrisy, Paloma plans to commit suicide on her thirteenth birthday. She documents her observations and thoughts in a journal, framing her writing as a philosophical reflection on life and its meaning.

Paloma's sharp intellect and critical eye allow her to see through the facade of the upper-class society surrounding her. She finds solace and connection with Renée Michel, the building's seemingly simple and unassuming concierge, discovering a kindred spirit and intellectual equal beneath Renée's carefully constructed image. Their unlikely friendship forms the heart of the story.
