Renee Montoya is a character featured in the DC Extended Universe film, Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn), portrayed by Rosie Perez.
In the film, Montoya is a detective working for the Gotham City Police Department (GCPD). She is initially dedicated to upholding the law but is frustrated by the rampant corruption within the GCPD and the lack of progress in bringing down criminals like Roman Sionis (Black Mask).
Montoya's pursuit of Sionis intertwines with Harley Quinn and other women, eventually leading them to form an alliance to protect Cassandra Cain. Disillusioned with the GCPD, Montoya ultimately quits the force by the movie's end.
