Viserys Targaryen, often referred to as the "Beggar King," was the exiled heir to the Iron Throne in the HBO series Game of Thrones. The older brother of Daenerys Targaryen, Viserys spent his life fleeing Robert's Rebellion and clinging to the memory of his family's former glory.

Driven by an insatiable desire to reclaim the throne he believed was his birthright, Viserys saw Daenerys as a means to an end. He arranged her marriage to Khal Drogo, hoping to use the Dothraki horde to invade Westeros. His arrogance and cruelty, however, alienated him from his sister and eventually led to his demise.

Despite proclaiming himself a king, Viserys lacked the strength, resources, and wisdom necessary to rule. His increasing instability and volatile temper ultimately proved fatal. Khal Drogo, tired of Viserys's threats and demands, executed him by pouring molten gold over his head, fulfilling his desire to "wear a crown."
