Kyle Gass, born July 14, 1960, in Walnut Creek, California, is an American actor, musician, and comedian best known as one half of the comedic rock duo Tenacious D. He attended UCLA, initially studying theater but dropping out before graduating to pursue music and acting.
While a member of the theater group The Actors' Gang, Gass met Jack Black, and together they formed Tenacious D in 1994. Gass typically plays acoustic guitar and provides harmonies, often serving as the foil to Black's more energetic and flamboyant persona. Beyond Tenacious D, Gass has also performed with his backing band, Kyle Gass Company.
Gass's acting credits include roles in films and television shows such as "Elf," "School of Rock," and "Kung Fu Panda." He often appears alongside Black in various projects, leveraging their established comedic chemistry. He continues to tour and record music, solidifying his position as a significant figure in comedic rock.
