The Anti-Monitor is a powerful DC Comics supervillain, primarily known as the main antagonist of the 1985-1986 limited series Crisis on Infinite Earths. He is a being of immense cosmic power and malice originating from the antimatter universe of Qward.
Born on a parallel Earth within that antimatter realm, he was originally a scientist named Mobius. Due to a freak experiment mirroring that of the Monitor on the positive matter Earth, both he and the Monitor were created, intrinsically linked as opposing forces. The Anti-Monitor represents entropy and destruction, his primary goal being to consume all positive matter universes and establish antimatter dominance.
His power is derived from the antimatter universe he commands, enabling him to manipulate energy on a massive scale, absorb entire universes, and command armies of shadow demons. Throughout Crisis, he systematically destroys alternate Earths, drawing closer to his ultimate objective. While defeated several times, the Anti-Monitor always finds a way to return, making him a recurring threat to the DC Multiverse.
