Biography:
Cicada is the alias of David Hersch, a fictional supervillain appearing in DC Comics, primarily associated with the Flash. He debuted in The Flash (vol. 2) #171 in 2001, created by Geoff Johns and Scott Kolins.
Hersch was an architect living in Keystone City. After witnessing the Flash save his wife during a bank robbery, he became obsessed with the hero. Following his wife's death from a lightning strike, Hersch misinterpreted her final words as a prophecy to honor those struck by the Flash's lightning.
Taking on the mantle of Cicada, he began a murderous campaign to kill everyone saved by the Flash. He possessed the power to absorb the life force of others, granting him immortality and superhuman strength. Cicada also commanded a cult of followers dedicated to fulfilling his vision.
His signature weapon is a lightning bolt-shaped dagger. He planned to use the life force he absorbed to resurrect his wife using technology stolen from the Flash Museum.
