Monet St. Croix, also known as M, is a mutant character appearing in Marvel Comics. Of Algerian descent, she first appeared in Generation X #1 (1994).
Monet possesses a vast array of powers, including superhuman strength, speed, senses, intellect, and flight. She is also telepathic and telekinetic, making her one of the most powerful mutants.
Initially portrayed as arrogant and haughty, her backstory revealed a complex history. She was briefly merged with her mute twin sisters, Claudette and Nicole, forming the mutant Penance, trapped in a physically altered state. The real Monet was trapped within Penance while the merged Monet became the person we see in Generation X.
Monet has been a member of several X-Men teams, including Generation X, X-Corp, and X-Factor. She is frequently depicted as independent and fiercely protective of those she cares about, despite her often-abrasive exterior.
