Jean Grey, initially known as Marvel Girl, is a pivotal character in Marvel Comics' X-Men franchise. She first appeared in X-Men #1 (September 1963).
Initially presented as the X-Men's sole female member, Jean possessed telekinetic and telepathic abilities, though in early stories these were less powerful than they would later become. She served as the heart and emotional core of the team.
