Rachel Summers is a powerful mutant from an alternate future, born to Scott Summers (Cyclops) and Jean Grey. She first appeared in The Uncanny X-Men #141 (January 1981), during the "Days of Future Past" storyline.
In her timeline, mutants were hunted and persecuted. Rachel was captured and trained by Ahab to hunt other mutants, becoming a "Hound." As a Hound she was branded with distinctive markings and forced to track down and capture other mutants using her telepathic and telekinetic abilities.
This Hound version of Rachel Summers is a tragic figure, manipulated and controlled by a cruel master. Her experiences as a Hound deeply traumatized her, shaping her personality and motivations after she escaped her timeline and traveled to the present day.
