Biography:
Peter Criss, born Peter Crisscoula in Brooklyn, New York, on December 20, 1945, is an American musician and actor best known as the original drummer and vocalist for the rock band Kiss.
Criss joined Kiss in 1973, contributing his distinctive drumming style and raspy vocals to the band's early hits like "Beth," a ballad that earned them a People's Choice Award.
His "Catman" persona, complete with feline-inspired makeup, was a key element of Kiss's theatrical stage presence and marketing success.
Criss's tenure with Kiss was marked by periods of immense popularity and internal conflicts. He left the band in 1980, pursuing a solo career and working with various other musical projects.
He rejoined Kiss twice, from 1996 to 2001 and again from 2002 to 2004, for reunion tours. Since then, Criss has continued to work on his solo projects and make public appearances.
