Leader Daimos, also known as Richard Hartford in some dubs, is the central protagonist of the 1978-1979 Japanese anime series, Tōshō Daimos (斗将ダイモス, "Fighting General Daimos"). He is a young man who becomes humanity's last hope for peace with the alien Baam race after his father, Dr. Hartford, is assassinated.

Daimos is highly skilled in martial arts, trained rigorously by his father from a young age to be a diplomat and protector of Earth. He pilots the giant robot, Daimos, a powerful machine designed to defend the planet from Baam attacks. His fighting prowess is matched by his strong moral compass and desire for peaceful coexistence.

Throughout the series, Daimos develops a complex relationship with Erika, the daughter of Baam's leader, Olban. Their love story becomes a central theme, symbolizing the possibility of unity between their warring races. He endures prejudice and opposition from both sides while striving to bridge the gap between humans and the Baam, ultimately fighting for understanding and acceptance.
