Voltes V is the collective identity of the five pilots who combine to form the super robot featured in the anime series Chodenji Machine Voltes V.
The series first aired in 1977, introducing the five individuals who would come together to defend Earth. These pilots are Kenichi Go (Steve Armstrong), Ippei Mine (Big Bert Armstrong), Daijiro Go (Little John Armstrong), Hiyoshi Go (Jamie Robinson), and Megumi Oka (Mark Gordon). Each pilot controls a separate component of Voltes V.
The robot Voltes V is created by Dr. Kentaro Go (Dr. Ned Armstrong), the father of Kenichi, Daijiro, and Hiyoshi, who anticipates an invasion from the Boazan Alien Empire. The team uses a specialized base and must launch in perfect synchronization to form Voltes V and battle the Beast Fighters sent by the Boazanians.
