The Boy, also known as Number Five, is a core member of the Hargreeves siblings, adopted by Sir Reginald Hargreeves to form the Umbrella Academy in Independent Comics.

Endowed with the extraordinary ability of space-time manipulation, Number Five can teleport through space and time. This ability is crucial to many events in the narrative, even though it's often volatile and difficult for him to control.

Disappearing during his childhood after a miscalculated time jump, he reappears years later in his childhood body with a warning of an impending apocalypse. Number Five is often depicted as cynical and world-weary due to his experiences across various timelines.

Despite his apparent youth, his chronological age is significantly higher. This adds a layer of complexity to his interactions with his siblings and often places him in a leadership role, leveraging his knowledge of future events.
