Mumm-Ra is the primary antagonist in the 1980s animated television series, ThunderCats, and its subsequent iterations. He is an ancient, mummified sorcerer priest, eternally bound to the service of the Ancient Spirits of Evil.
Residing in the Black Pyramid on Third Earth, Mumm-Ra possesses immense mystical powers, including shapeshifting, energy projection, and necromancy. His goal is always to acquire the Eye of Thundera, the source of the ThunderCats' power, to further his own ambitions of universal domination.
Mumm-Ra's default form is that of a frail, decaying mummy, but he can transform into a powerful, muscular warrior by reciting the incantation, "Ancient Spirits of Evil, transform this decayed form to Mumm-Ra, the Ever-Living!" This empowered state significantly enhances his strength and magical abilities, making him a formidable adversary.
Despite his considerable power, Mumm-Ra often demonstrates strategic ineptitude and is repeatedly outmaneuvered by the ThunderCats. His dependence on the Ancient Spirits of Evil also makes him vulnerable when their power is disrupted. He remains, however, a persistent and iconic villain in the realm of animated fantasy.
