Diego is a prominent character in the animated Ice Age film franchise. He's a saber-toothed tiger initially driven by a predatory instinct to hunt and capture the baby Roshan for his pack, led by Soto.

Throughout the series, Diego undergoes significant character development. He defects from Soto's pack, displaying a growing conscience and forming an unlikely friendship with Manny the mammoth and Sid the sloth. He becomes fiercely loyal to them and puts their safety above his own, effectively becoming part of their herd.

Diego is characterized by his strength, agility, and sharp wit. He struggles with his predatory past, battling his primal instincts, but consistently chooses to do what's right. As the series progresses, he grapples with aging and doubts about his capabilities.

Voiced primarily by Denis Leary, Diego's journey explores themes of friendship, loyalty, redemption, and self-acceptance within the backdrop of a prehistoric world.
