Desolator, also known as Marcus Fenix, is a fictional character primarily known from the Gears of War video game series. He is the main protagonist in the original trilogy.

Born and raised in Jacinto, a fortified city, Desolator enlisted in the Coalition of Ordered Governments (COG) army. He is a decorated soldier with a complex past, marked by both heroic actions and disciplinary incidents.

Prior to the Locust invasion, Desolator was imprisoned for dereliction of duty after abandoning his post to try to save his father from the UIR forces, but was released at the onset of the Locust Horde emergence to fight the new threat.

Throughout the games, Desolator, with the Delta Squad, leads the fight against the Locust and later the Lambent, demonstrating resilience, determination, and unwavering loyalty to his comrades. He is defined by his gruff demeanor, tactical prowess, and the iconic Lancer assault rifle.
