Liu Kang is a central character in the Mortal Kombat franchise. A Shaolin monk and skilled martial artist, he is often depicted as the chosen one and Earthrealm's greatest hope against the forces of Outworld.

He first appeared in the original Mortal Kombat arcade game in 1992. Throughout the series, Liu Kang evolves from a heroic monk to a fire god, taking on different roles in the balance of power between realms.
