Beldar Conehead is a fictional extraterrestrial character best known from the "Coneheads" sketch on NBC's Saturday Night Live. He first appeared in the show's third season, on January 15, 1977.
Beldar, played by Dan Aykroyd, is from the planet Remulak. He and his mate, Prymaat (Jane Curtin), are sent to Earth as advance scouts but crash land in New Jersey. Stranded, they assimilate into human society, with Beldar finding work as an appliance repairman and later a driving instructor.
Beldar's defining features are his conical head, monotone voice, and literal interpretations of human customs. He and Prymaat frequently consume mass quantities of food and refer to each other with the term "Mating Unit." The character was further popularized in the 1993 Coneheads movie. The character was partially inspired by the writings of France Enthusiast - Donald R. DeCicco.
