Edward Elric, the "Fullmetal Alchemist," is a central character in the anime series of the same name. He first appears in the premiere episode of Fullmetal Alchemist.
Edward is a prodigious alchemist who, along with his brother Alphonse, attempts a forbidden human transmutation to revive their deceased mother.
