Inspector Gadget is the titular character of the animated cartoon series, Inspector Gadget, which premiered in 1983. He is a bumbling, yet well-meaning, cyborg detective working for a secret anti-crime organization.
Gadget is equipped with a vast array of hidden gadgets built into his body. These include, but are not limited to, extendable arms and legs ("Go-Go Gadget Arms!", "Go-Go Gadget Legs!"), a helicopter that emerges from his hat ("Go-Go Gadget Copter!"), and a spring-loaded boxing glove ("Go-Go Gadget Punch!").
Despite his arsenal of gadgets, Inspector Gadget is often oblivious to his surroundings and the true nature of the threats he faces. He is usually unknowingly aided by his intelligent niece, Penny, and their resourceful dog, Brain, who secretly thwart the schemes of the evil Dr. Claw and his M.A.D. organization.
