Bugs Bunny is an animated cartoon character, best known for his starring roles in the Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies series of theatrical shorts produced by Warner Bros.

His first appearance is generally considered to be in the cartoon short "A Wild Hare" (1940), directed by Tex Avery. However, earlier characters with similar traits existed.
