Rita Farr, also known as Elasti-Woman, is a fictional superheroine appearing in DC Comics. She was a celebrated Hollywood actress before her life drastically changed.
During a film shoot, Rita was exposed to unusual volcanic gases. This exposure altered her cellular structure, granting her the extraordinary ability to expand, contract, and elongate any part of her body at will. Initially, she struggled to control her powers and was deemed a danger to society.
Dr. Niles Caulder, also known as The Chief, intervened and offered Rita a place on his team, the Doom Patrol. He helped her master her abilities and provided a sense of purpose.
