Biography:
Bill Lumbergh is a fictional character from the 1999 film Office Space, portrayed by Gary Cole. He embodies the archetypal, passive-aggressive middle manager. Lumbergh's defining traits include his monotonous voice, persistent requests to employees for them to work weekends, and a general obliviousness to the needs and morale of his team.
His signature phrase is asking subordinates, "Yeah, if you could go ahead and..." followed by an often unreasonable or inconvenient request, often emphasized by a lack of urgency. He drives a Porsche 911, further highlighting the disconnect between his perceived status and his actual contribution to the company.
Lumbergh's character has become a widely recognized and satirized symbol of corporate inefficiency and the soullessness of office culture, solidifying his place in popular culture as one of cinema's most memorable bosses. He is not from a TV show.
