Mr. Kesuke Miyagi, often referred to simply as Miyagi, is a fictional character appearing in The Karate Kid film series. He is portrayed by actor Pat Morita.

Miyagi is an Okinawan karate master who mentors Daniel LaRusso. He teaches Daniel not only martial arts but also valuable life lessons, emphasizing discipline, balance, and respect. He also taught Karate to other students as seen in the movies.

Born in Okinawa, Miyagi immigrated to the United States after World War II. He carried the burden of personal tragedy, including the loss of his wife and child during childbirth in the Manzanar internment camp and having to leave his native Okinawa under less-than-ideal circumstances.

Miyagi works as a handyman and gardener. He imparts wisdom through often cryptic, indirect methods, forcing Daniel to learn through practical tasks and introspection. He is not only a Karate master but also a gifted teacher. His influence extends far beyond martial arts, shaping Daniel's character and providing him with a strong moral compass.
