Lion-O is the protagonist of the Thundercats franchise. He first appeared in the original animated series, Thundercats, which premiered in 1985.
He is the young Lord of the Thundercats, a race of humanoid feline aliens. While physically maturing to adulthood after escaping their dying planet Thundera, Lion-O retains the naivete and inexperience of a child, forcing him to quickly learn leadership skills.
Lion-O wields the Sword of Omens, a powerful weapon that allows him to see great distances and summon his fellow Thundercats in times of need. He is destined to fight Mumm-Ra, an evil sorcerer and the Thundercats' greatest enemy, on Third Earth.
