Hana Song, known as D.Va, is a playable hero in the Blizzard Entertainment video game Overwatch. First appearing in the game's initial release in May 2016, she is a former professional StarCraft player.
In the Overwatch universe, South Korea faced an Omnic crisis involving a massive, rogue omnic that emerged from the East China Sea. MEKA, the Mobile Exo-Force of Korea, was formed to combat the threat. Initially relying on drones, MEKA struggled.
Recognizing the need for skilled pilots, MEKA began recruiting professional gamers. D.Va, already a global StarCraft champion, was recruited for her reflexes and mechanical aptitude. She now pilots a state-of-the-art mech equipped with twin Fusion Cannons and a Defense Matrix.
