Aang is the protagonist of the animated television series Avatar: The Last Airbender. He is the latest incarnation of the Avatar, a being destined to master all four elements (Water, Earth, Fire, and Air) and maintain balance in the world.

Aang, a young Air Nomad monk, was informed of his Avatar status at the age of twelve, earlier than traditionally intended. Overwhelmed by the responsibility and fearing separation from his mentor, Monk Gyatso, he fled his temple shortly before the Fire Nation launched a devastating attack against the Air Nomads, effectively committing genocide and beginning a century-long war.

Aang became trapped in an iceberg for 100 years. Upon his release, he learns of the war and the annihilation of his people. Guided by his destiny, Aang, accompanied by his friends Katara and Sokka, embarks on a journey to master the elements and defeat the Fire Lord Ozai, restoring balance to the world. He is known for his playful nature, pacifistic tendencies, and unwavering compassion.
