Doctor Mid-Nite is a superhero identity used by multiple characters in DC Comics. The original Dr. Mid-Nite, Charles McNider, first appeared in *All-American Comics* #25 (April 1941).

Charles McNider was blinded by an exploding grenade while performing an emergency surgery. Later, while recovering, an owl crashed through his window. After removing its bandages, McNider discovered he could see perfectly in the dark. He created special goggles to see in daylight and a "blackout bomb" to blind enemies. He then became a costumed crimefighter named Dr. Mid-Nite.
