The Stay Puft Marshmallow Man is a fictional character from the 1984 film Ghostbusters. He is a giant paranormal entity summoned into existence by Gozer the Gozerian, a powerful Sumerian god.
The Ghostbusters are given a choice to "choose the form of the Destructor", and Ray Stantz inadvertently pictures the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, a friendly mascot from his childhood. This thought manifests as a gigantic, destructive marshmallow man who attacks New York City.
The Stay Puft Marshmallow Man is depicted as a colossal, jovial-looking figure wearing a sailor's hat and bib. Despite his seemingly harmless appearance, he is incredibly destructive, smashing buildings and wreaking havoc as he moves through the city. He is ultimately defeated when the Ghostbusters cross their proton streams, causing an explosion that destroys him, covering the city in marshmallow goo.
