Iron Monger is a Marvel character whose alias is Obadiah Stane. He first appeared in Iron Man #163 in October of 1982.
Stane is a wealthy industrialist and businessman who becomes a major antagonist of Tony Stark/Iron Man. He manipulates Stark's company, Stark International, eventually taking control and renaming it Stane International.
Obadiah Stane is known for constructing his own armored suit, the Iron Monger armor, to directly challenge Iron Man. The Iron Monger suit is larger and more heavily armed than Iron Man's early suits, designed for brute force and destruction.
In the comics, his conflict with Stark is often a battle of wits and business acumen as well as physical strength. Stane frequently targets Stark's personal life and exploits his vulnerabilities.
