Edward Michael "Bear" Grylls, born June 7, 1974, is a British adventurer, writer, television presenter, and businessman.
He is widely recognized for his survival television series, most notably Man vs. Wild (released as Born Survivor in the UK), which aired from 2006 to 2011. Grylls demonstrated survival techniques in extreme environments, showcasing how to find food, build shelter, and navigate dangerous terrain.
Prior to his television career, Grylls served in the British Special Forces, specifically 21 SAS, for three years. He broke his back in a parachuting accident in Africa but remarkably recovered and summited Mount Everest in 1998, becoming one of the youngest Britons to achieve this feat.
Beyond Man vs. Wild, Grylls has hosted numerous other adventure and survival-themed shows, including Running Wild with Bear Grylls, where he takes celebrities into remote locations, and The Island with Bear Grylls. He has also authored several books on survival and adventure.
