Galen Tyrol, often referred to as "Chief," is a central character in the reimagined Battlestar Galactica TV series.
Chief Tyrol first appeared in the 2003 miniseries Battlestar Galactica, portrayed by Aaron Douglas. He serves as the head deckhand and chief mechanic responsible for maintaining the Vipers and Raptors on the Battlestar Galactica.
Initially believed to be human, Tyrol later discovers he is a Cylon, a significant plot point that creates inner turmoil and affects his relationships with other crew members. He maintains a complex relationship with Sharon "Boomer" Valerii, further complicating his identity and loyalties.
