Doctor Who
Biography:
Susan Foreman was the Doctor's granddaughter and his original traveling companion, first appearing in the very first episode of Doctor Who, "An Unearthly Child" (1963). Played by Carole Ann Ford, Susan was a student at Coal Hill School in London when her unusual knowledge and behavior attracted the attention of teachers Ian Chesterton and Barbara Wright.
The Doctor initially presented himself as Susan's grandfather, and both were revealed to be aliens from another planet. They traveled in a time and space machine called the TARDIS. Susan provided a youthful perspective and often found herself in danger, requiring the Doctor and her companions to protect her. While intelligent and quick-witted, she was also prone to panic and needed guidance.
Susan eventually fell in love with a human, David Campbell, and the Doctor, recognizing her need for a stable life, made the difficult decision to leave her behind in 2164 Earth to build a life with him. While her initial departure was permanent, Susan's name and history have been referenced throughout the series' long run, reminding audiences of the Doctor's deep familial connection to her.
