Biography:
Dorothy "Ace" McShane was a companion of the Seventh Doctor in the BBC science fiction series, Doctor Who. Portrayed by Sophie Aldred, Ace first appeared in the 1987 serial "Dragonfire" and travelled with the Doctor until the show's original cancellation in 1989.
Ace was a teenage explosives expert from Perivale, Earth in 1983. She possessed a volatile and independent spirit, coupled with a thirst for knowledge and adventure. She was accidentally transported to the planet Svartos by a time storm triggered by her own experiments with Nitro-9, a powerful explosive she invented.
Throughout her travels with the Doctor, Ace's character arc centered around her personal growth and confronting her past traumas. The Doctor saw in her a potential he strived to unlock, often pushing her to face her fears and challenging her preconceptions. While their relationship was sometimes fraught with tension, it was ultimately one of profound mutual respect and affection.
